Its a shame to hear this  I know how hard it is to deal with children with autism. My cousin who i look after Friday till Saturday has autism and is hard work. I couldnt imagine what it would be like if i was to support 2 children with autism and KC as well. I understand you and David are worried about the speed of his condition, i am the same. I just take each day as it comes and try not to think too much of what could and couldnt be. Keep us updated Jay

(Keep your chin up here is a :D SMILE.

My daughter is a musician who works, for part of her working week, with adults and children on the Autistic Spectrum. She put me onto the book called (again, I think this is its name) The Strange Case of the Dog in the Night.

I thoroughly recommend the book.

The book is 'The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night' and is probably the best book that any one who wanted to know what Aspergers Syndrome is really like, could read. Even though it is fiction.

Lynn still no pm so here is my addy - hope it's ok - the world and his wife mails me here for autism support so I have no problem with it being displayed here.

Although life is generally hard work with my two sons it is not without it's rewards and I have seen David make so much progress that I just find it so unfair that he now has something else to deal with. The thing that keeps me sane is that autism or not our house is filled with laughter. Sure we have some down days and some melt downs but on the whole my two have learnt to laugh. Not only at life, and at myself and my husband, but at themselves, which may not be politically correct but it works for us. The standing joke in our family is that our eldest, who is not autistic, was adopted. The two youngest remind him of this at every opportunity. I don't want to lose the laughter because it's what keeps us going.

David is quite happy for me to post here because that underlines that I am doing what I always do for him and for Matthew, and that is talk to those who really know what it what. I speak to other adults with autism a great deal and they have inspired and helped us a great deal. My just being here is helping David.

thanks again

Carole

Thank you for correcting my error. I loved the book. I was given it as a talking book on CD when I couldn't see, and my wife and I listened to it together.

I thought it was so well observed. Well written and (on the talking book) very well read.

If you go into your profile and then enter your email their; you will find that people can email you under your Post entry...where the little Icons appear.....

Mite be better than having your email in a post......as you do get these blasting web crawling agents that scroll the Inter Web collecting email addresses then emailing you alluding to your sex life needing extra rejuvenation!....if you know what I mean!...Or is that only my mailbox!!!! :-)

Jay

I wondered how they got my eMail address. fortunately I have a spam filter, but the funny thing is that it manages to filter out some stuff that I want and that isn't spam at all.

Why don't these marketing firms put a little tag on their messages so that we don't have to trawl through them to find if there is anything in the bundle that we really do need to see.

I have finally managed to change my profile and add the new addy so I have removed my e-mail addy from the post.

I get lots of rubbish mail already.

The book is brilliant even as a read - although I am trying to persuade David that he should write his own book. He was not diagnosed until he was 13 and had had a nighmare ride through the services until that point. He has quite a story of his own to tell.

He is quite a remarkable young man because having had a breakdown aged 11 which left him with a worng diagnosis and depression he has regained his confidence and self esteme and is now a very out going and funny guy. He has a wicked sense of humour so don't ever believe that people with autism don't do humour, both of mine do.

Tell DAvid that there is a world that needs to read his book. Anything that can break down the barriers of ignorance about the autistic spectrum can only be good for us all.
