It is a myth that taking Alcohol whilst Anti biotics effects the drug....HOWEVER....taking alcohol....has an effect on the Liver and Kidneys (puts it under strain) and so does Anti Biotics...therefore if you have elevated liver and kidney values whilst taking anti biotics it may take more to actually get the effect (processing and metabolising the drug)
Bit of a contradiction; but basically if you drink alcohol regularly and thus have elevate values..then YES.....abstaining from Alcohol is advisable.....but if you drink the odd wine glass every week....than overall the impact.....would be minimal
hope that makes sense?

KC is about facing the challenges it creates rather than accepting the problems it generates -

I don't know if I drink as much as a glass of wine per week, but I do enjoy a glass of Boillinger if it is offered, or Caol Ila. I am afraid my tastes in alcoholic beveredges far outstrips my megre clergyman's income.
Probably as well, but thank you for explaining the business about antibiotics and booze. A conundrum that has puzzled me for years has suddenly been settled.
