Flags!

Postby John Smith » Fri 31 Mar 2006 6:04 pm

Well, those of you with over 20 posts will have noticed that you now have a flag avatar.

If you don't like the one I picked, then change it!

Click on "Profile" at the top of the screen and then scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Click "Show gallery", and then choose your flag. Maybe you don't like Jack and would prefer a national flag; or perhaps you'd prefer the Union flag... or the flag of your birthplace... it's up to you.

There are three categories of flags to choose from at the moment. Common (UK), EU and World.

If there's a flag you need that you cannot find, please let me know.

Well it does look good, but sadly, it's still a manual system. I had high hopes of auto-choosing the flag based on IP address, but the patch was objecting to (amongst other things) the resizable text front-end to phpBB that I wrote so that we can read the forum with our bad eyes!

I'll do it one day. Probably once phpBB3 comes out. It's only 2 years overdue now, but rumours abound that it's going beta before too long... and pigs might fly!

Oh yes, and if you've not got a flag yet, never mind. Just follow the tips above and allocate yourself one.

funny enough, I almost did. I saw the dragon, and thought "I thought I'd put Gareth in England"!

Thanks for convincing me I'm not mad.

Wibble!
