That's really interesting. I assumed that you were on maxidex every four hours because it was a DALK graft. I've checked my own notes, and I was on hourly unpreserved (and refrigerated) dexamethasone. And you're right, it certainly does taste foul!

Ah well, Paul. You always knew that this was a possibility.

I am really impressed that you can take a photo of your eye with your cell phone. I hve tried with my Nokia something or other and have never managed to come close.

Bizarrely although I knew that there was a slightly higher risk and even the consultant spelt it out, I don't think that it has really hit me until now.

Feel a tad down now to be honest and I haven't felt down at all until now.

Oh well.

Am happy with the piccy though, just happened to notice that the phone had a closeup mode, knew about the light though.

The clarity in the graft so early on must be good for the future.

It looks excellent now so I am hopeful it will stay that way. I've had to PK's and both are aproaching 18 years old and still very strong and healthy.

Regards

Welcome back Paul :D

It's great to have you back posting, I've enjoyed reading through your diary. As I did so I imagined myself going through the same process and can't wait to wear one of those small gowns

The eye is looking fantastic, Mr de cock has done a great job which is very reassuring for when my graft comes back around. Not that I didn't feel safe in his hands, it's just seeing how well he has performed is rather soothing.

Rest well, I look forward to reading the next chapter in your diary.

Gareth,

It does look rather good doesnt it?! The vision I have with it at the moment is amazing better than I have had for MANY years, I really hope that it will stay this way. Though I do know that it will change as the graft settles down.

Chris,

Have fun when its your go. One thing: ensure that whoever goes with you takes something for you to eat later on. The staff wont let you out until they have seen you eat something and the dodgy sarnie they offered me was not appealing. And ensure you have plenty of ibuprofen in stock as once the anaesthetic wears off you will need it!

Just before De Cock did the op it was quite funny as he insisted on pointing out that he couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't need glasses/contacts afterwards in future, but that he would do his best.

:-)

I pointed out that I just wanted the oppurtunity to be able to use glasses/contacts on my left eye before the right went tits up.

Anyway - back to see him today for another checkup. So I am gonna have lunch out with SWMBO and head up to the K&C, it will be my first time out since friday. I hate being light sensitive.

She Who Must Be Obeyed, and yes the loverly wife does know that I refer to her as SWMBO. I seems somehow appropriate since she got her Masters Degree a year or so back and I joked that I could legitimately call her Mistress Samantha! :D

Is that what lead to the graft, your good lady has slapt you about the head once too often :D
