My second graft was done about 12 months after the first, but that was because the left had got to the point the right eye was when that was grafted. As the sight was so good in the right it was decided there was little risk of complications through having a second graft so soon.

Sounds like J is in a similar situation, at least there is the option of DALK, I had two full penetrating grafts. With technology as it is now, I think what I am going through 16 years post graft is even more unlickly to happen to those grafted now when their graft is 10 years old.

Just a quick update!

Had another appointment this morning....10 months its been now!

Got a steady 6/9 with my specs on! which is excellent as its remained steady now for over 3 months!. Cornea is nice and clear and completely healed over..barring the running sutures.....which I am told a few will be taken out in weeks.

All in all....and good follow up...and I have now switched from Maxidex to FML once a day!

This is really excellent news!!! Glad you posted to let us all know how you are doing! FML drops are SO much nicer, they don't sting as much as Maxidex does!! :P

Hoping it all remains good for you and 6/9 is fantastic with glasses!!

Another update

Things are going really well on the transplanted cornea. Its clear and vision is now 20/20 - 20/40 with glasses!

I have around 8 sutures left but these will remain in place till after my 2nd graft on the other eye so as to provide me with vision during the healing process!
