When I had my PK, I went down to the theatre at about 9.30. I sat around the theatre waiting room for about 20 minutes, was wheeled into the anaesthetic room and from there (fast asleep) into the theatre. Was back in the ward with new cornea and embroidery all in place by the back of noon. I do not know for how long I had been dozing in the recovery room, although I do remember reducing the pressure on my CPAP machine (I suffer from Apnoea) a couple of times.

Been referred to St Thomas's in London for an op. Just waiting for an out patient appointment to see the specialist there.

Hopefully by the end of the year I'd have had both operations done.

Shame they can't do them both at once really.

Get better soon, we'll all be waiting to hear how you're doing.

That conjures for me an image of competing surgical teams elbowing each other out of the way while they pile their implements around you. meanwhile the poor anaesthetist is there trying to keep you asleep until it is time to wake you up!

I was a little concerned before my op...but day after was kicking myself..as it really was not that bad...

Don't stress, you just need to lie back and thing of the positive impact this will have on your life, the professionals will do the rest!

Audio books were hopeless for me when I had my graft, I kept falling asleep and couldn't find my place again! - take some music CDs aswell.

Best of luck i'm sure that things will go ok and you will be fine! Like Jay i was so mad with me when i woke up, as after all that stressing it really wasn't that bad!!

Well I just phoned the hospital to ask that for transport purposes:

I have to arrive at 8 and do paperwork, relax etc
consultant will appear around 9 to talk to me, op scheduled for 9:30, this should take around 2 hours.

I should be discharged around 2ish and then back the following day to be checked out by the consultant.

Will put a diary up online - as a seperate blog from my usual one (which is linked in my profile - yes wll change the link as well) and move the KC related stuff over (hopefully this evening)- that way you can ignore my riveting drivel. Will also bung stuff in here as well as a straight copy and paste - I have to do the blog as others want to know whats going on.

Anyway got to go, much to do round the house whilst I can lift, carry and fetch bones! May appear here this evening, if not will be back sometime err soon.

Anyone fancy running a book on how quickly I post here after the op?
