Any Civil Servants out there?

Postby Tammy Downsworth » Mon 12 Dec 2005 1:12 pm

Following on from the post about any NHS workers with KC.

Are there any Civil Servants and of those Civil Servants, where do you work?, and have you had any problems with Occupational Health?

Just wondered if anyone had any similar experineces to me.

Some positive but some of the things that have happened have surprised me.

Tam

Hi Tammy,

No longer Civel Servent, but I have worked for them in the past prior to the departments being privatised.

DTI (as Was) from 1991 - 1992 at the Government labs in Stevenage which no longer exist. Occupational health were fine, here I was about 6 months post graft right eye and 18 months post graft right eye. As long as followed procedure I was allowed to do as much as anyone else.

Local Water authority labs prior to privatisation 1993 occupational health were not botherd.

British gas by 1993 has been privatised and agin occupational health not interested.

British Coal 1993 - 1998 recorded the fact I had KC but appart from that were not bothered.

In every case I was working with dangerous chemicals and heavy machinery so I always made sure I had regular eye tests and ensured I was safe to work with such equipment.

Regards

Gareth

Tam

I am a Civil Servant, and I am going through Occupation Health referral at the moment...

So I haven't had any problems yet, but it hasnt really started.

I will try and keep you posted as to progress though - if that would help

Hi

Just wondered if anyone else (civil servant or not) having any little issues at work???

Susan
don't let the people that mean nothing to you get you down, because in the end they are worth nothing to you, they are just your obstacles in life to trip you up!
