LED lights (WOW)

Well i think KC must be setting in,
if not i must be alien. LED lights seem to like double, and triple and then so on. You get like a glow and like light lines coming from the LED hard to explaine.

Normal or not?

Hi Jai,

No, it's not normal, but it's certainly "normal" for us with KC! You're seeing where a single tiny beam of light is scattered to. The lines and halos are just destinations on the retina. It all goes to show quite how irregular our corneas are... and if every point of light is similarly affected, no wonder we see poorly!

I have notioced a similar problem with lights, usually during the evening when its dark, I see long streaks of light beams coming down to the floor from the street lights, which prevents me from seeing further than that, sometimes when I close my eyes for a second and rest them in this short period, the scattering retreats a bit, but I've kinda goot used to it now! I used to beleive it were my lenses, maybe they were scratched or hard dirt on them distorting light, but now I realise its my eye itself !

Hopefully it won't be a problem after I have my operation next year and when the graft settles.

sorry to put a downer on it but since having k.c ive had the issue with lights aswell but if anything after the grafts im worse now but ive had big issues with my eyes aswell.

but it seems to be a k.c problem maybe doctors need research into it to help find a way of helping us.

Really sorry to read that your grafts are not doing too well at the moment. I hope they settle down soon.

This isn't just "A" problem with KC; this is "THE" problem!

It is precisely this issue which gives us the bad vision. Imagine a million LEDs in close formation, each a different colour. Could you see the picture the panel of LEDs show? When each pixel illuminates half of the retina to some extent, rather than that tiny rod, you've got a problem, and that is KC in a nutshell.

Popst graft, I had the same problem, but once the graft settled and the creases became far less I have no problem at all. The lens fit I have is quite good unless light is from the side, then I see the crescent of the lens edge.

Can not see far enough in the right eye without lenses to say if halos and streaks are a problem! everything is either a blur of colour or light!

I get this too and I often amuse other family members when I ask what the 5 or 6 little lights are and also why is the TV power indicator moving?!?!

Seems no one else can see these lovely little lights as I do .......... saves on christmas lights though and at Blackpool illuminations I get a much better and mingled colourful vision.

On a sensible note I think after a while you get used to it and start to ignore some of the images you see, jayboi it will get easier for you eventually. At some point we all learn to cope as best we can.

Do you have a date for your graft or is it just a proposal at this stage?

I may be little enlightened about this. But shouldn´t this problem disappear post graft, even if it fail to settle perfectly? If this occours evet post graft it means even the new material behave like the KC -diseased origin-cornea. There are problems post graft, such as rejection and blur vision, but even then the vision behind the blur gives you a vision without such troubles?

I find without a lens in, a christmas tree becomes an orgy of light, sometimes pulsating and resplendent, in my opinion a happier side effect of KC ... almost hypnotic in its iridescent kaleidoscope of colours.
