Hehe maybe we have just found out what our KC workplace is!! Maybe we should be a taxi firm who specialises in taking the blind and visually impaired around! We could also transport and accompany people out and about, such as with shopping etc!! Hehe just think we could have loads of special events like blind ice skating, adventure expeditions and trips to the zoo!!!!!!!!!  :P :D

OH WOW well up for this!!!! Hehehe and while i LOVE driving i think i would rather hold someones hand around the zoo to take a peak at the penguins instead and as i posted it first i get the fun job!!! LMAO!!! Me me me me MEEEEEEEEE!!!! :P Oh being visually impaired does have it's moments, even if it is so that i can make a joke about myself!!

Drew.

Too bad to hear you vere denied a taxi because of a guide-dog. There has been some examples in my country too, mostly foreign drivers refusing to have the dog in their cars because it is regarded "unclean" due to their holy religion. Very sad for people dependent on a guide-dog. But it wouldn´t surprise me if this becomes legal custom in a few years time. A kind of oposite aparheid towards people with dogs.

I think that the 'religion' card is played by some folk in the UK, too. But it does not work. Even in countries where the law is based on religious precepts an exemption is introduced for guide dogs.

I was intrigued a little while ago to see a report of guide-ponies, but I can't remembver if that was a real report or an 'April Fool'.

Hi All

Guidehorses are real.

http://www.guidehorse.org/

They even do escalators - Which is great cos I have to lift my 45Kg Alsation Cross this is fine in Harrods but Holborn and Tottenham Court tube is a different matter.

I normally resort to swearing under my breath for the last 20ft. The swearing gets quicker and quicker and eventually I can put him down.

I have a man from the council coming on Thursday to take a statement.

Will keep you informed

Drew

The thing is, I have always found Shetland Ponies to be quite bad tempered. They must have bred that trait out of the ones they use as guide ponies.

Per, I am pretty sure that I know who would like one of those pink ponies, but I'm not sure how useful they would be to help us get around.

I wonder what taxi drivers would make of horses hoof marks on their upholstery!

And another one taking more public responsibility, from the Isle of Man ( next stop Holborn tube, mind the gap:) ) :
