Tralaine,
If you get in touch with Anne Keplatz on the KC group comitee, she has information for employers and employees which migt be of interest.
She was helpful when I had to spend 3 months off work while I got my eyes sorted, I had to go from glasses to lenses. Basically your employer has to try and redeploy you where possible to keep you in work if changes can not be made to your current work environment to allow you to do your job properly.
For me this meant no laboratory work until we were happy the appropriate safety measures could be observed when I was wearing lenses and additional equipmentw as purchased to allow me to work when I was unable to wear lenses.
The result is that I have kept my job working in an environment I enjoy doing a job which has the end result of saving lives. Annes e-mail is on the contact area I think of this site.
Hope this helps
Gareth

LOL, no it wont be Monday i'll be there
I forgot to say my optician want sme to go back to RGP'S but im not keen as i know how uncomfortable they are to wear.
Andrew, do the consultants at Gartnavel actually test your eyes and order your contacts? or do they just tell you to go back to your own consultant.
Sorry for all the questions

They have a whole contact lens department staffed by specialists who see KC patients all the time and are used to the complications of fit and style of lens.
The consultants do not do this, in fact I don't think I'd trust a surgeon to do a refraction and fit a lens any more than I'd let an optician take away my cornea and sew in a new one!
All the best
Andrew
