Hello!
i was wondering, and i'm sure i'm not the only one with this problem, but does anyone know of a good mascara that doesnt end up flaking during the day and into my lenses? Ive tried endless ones, both normal and sensitive, but they all seem 2 flake!

Yes I do! but it's still personal preference at the end of the day, plus what you can afford. I've tried all kinds from £4 mascaras to £17 mascaras. To my mind the Lancome 'ampicils' waterproof mascara is the best, that's what I've been using for years now. It is at the higher end of the price range unfortunately [£17], and you do need their remover. Waterproof is harder to get off but this is my technique; put some remover on a cotton pad and press against the lashes with the eyes closed, then use cotton buds dipped in the remover and rest the lashes on a finger and 'roll' the bud over the lashes. This saves he eye from being pulled about too much. Then lastly wipe the eye with a fresh pad moistened with water to remove any excess [I also do a quick flush out with hypromellose of the eye too]. This doesn't take as long as it sounds, and it's worth being thorough.
Eye shadows also vary in how much they flake. I like Bobbie Brown or Mac shadows, the latter are £10 I think, they do last well.
Alternatively, you could get a cheaper mascara and I believe there is a product which can be applied after which makes any mascara waterproof but I can't remember the brand name.
Or, there is something called 'colorstay overtime lash tint' by Revlon which you apply like mascara and it's like a semi-permanent tint and stays on the lashes for about 3 days and doesn't flake.
Or, there is eye lash tinting which can be done in salons but I wouldn't go for that if you are having any eye problems at all or are on regular prescription drops because it can sting. Their are home tint kits but again I wouldn't recommend it.
I guess none are totally flake free but it helps if you apply it well to the top lashes by 'zig zagging' it through the lashes, and remove any clumps. Lastly, I always check to see that it is 'ophthalmologist tested'. Yes I know folks we're probably getting back into the animal testing territory again [I know there are brands which are not tested on animals]
Hope this helps a bit Emma

Few more tips about make-up. I never put eye pencil on the inside rim of the eye because that's not skin. I got myself some good brushes [Mac] and if looked after, they last for 20 years, this means washing them regularly in baby shampoo. Lastly, I never share make-up, and mascara and pencils should be discarded after a few months if not used up.

Fair enough Lisa, it's personal choice. The two eye hospitals I've been under have never asked me to not wear it, so for those of us who choose to wear it, I just advocate being really clean and careful. I've never had eye problems related to wearing make-up in the last 27 years.
I guess all these collagen injections are the modern day pollyfiller, now I wouldn't go that far. I also wouldn't touch that 'semi-permanent' make-up or cosmetic tattoing, looks dodgy to me.

I used to wear eye shadow and mascara and never had any problems. I have never used eye liner as i'm not keen on the result, it is too near my eye to make me feel ok with it and work wouldn't appreciate it either! Since having so many stitches removed i have stopped for a little while and am just wearing foundation blusher and lip gloss, but i think that so long as you are careful you should have no problems.
When i was almost blind last year and couldn't see to put any make up on properly while it killed me not to even wear foundation i saved a hell of a lot of money!! So maybe that is a good thing in the long term!
