Indeed not!! I take my Sci-fi very seriously, I just happen to be equally qualified in the sillyness dept too. Would like some evidence of my sillyness?
I have a number of [inaminate] dogs with their own dog bowl and Bonio biscuits. They take it in turns to accompany me when I speak at conferences and when travelling on trains. They like chatting and barking to people.
I also had a 4ft Wile E Coyote who would ride with me as a passenger on a friends motorbike.
I can be sillier but you might think I'm off my trolley/my cheese is sliding off my cracker/not enough luncheon vouchers for an orgy [never understood that one personally but it sounds good].

John,
I have a tent and other caping stuff, so I can set up base camp in your garden or the shed.
Have all the tools except a mower as mine blew up on the last cut of 2005 so will have to nick a sheep or a goat ont he way.
Or if you have room and we go the envitronmental route, a horse and cart. Cart to carry everything and horse to pull cart and mow the lawn. Instant compost for the flower beds.
Could tap the gas and convert the rotavator to run on gas.
Does anyone know if you need to past the driving sight test to be able to drive a horse and cart?
As with all handymen, I will need regular tea breaks so I will happily take on that role.
No director job for me, too much like hard work, but Company President would be good.
John will you be with or without lipstick?

Dear President Gareth,
We ask the horse of course!
We also need chocolate cake with the tea because according to a RCT carried out by the Directorate of Sci-Fi & Silliness, the serotonin in choccie cake is beneficial to the corneal endothelium.
Yes I also want to know about John & lipstick and Andrew & skirts [signature done!]
I can supply a medical tricorder with hand held scanner, communicator, phaser gun, a device for scanning alien life forms, and I can impersonate a computers voice [Orac a la Blakes 7, HAL, Aliens etc].

Moderator, President, Directors, Ladies and Gentlemen.
I work within an organization that has no boss. Yet we all pay due reverence to the one whom we call "Moderator", as (s)he occupies the chair of our supreme court.
I'd say that put John in pole position.
Congratulations, Moderator. I think I ought to stand while addressing you, but it's hard to work my computer that way. I crave your understanding.
Andrew

Louise,
John made the refernece to him and lipstick on the animal testing thread.
We are all broadminded and understanding people here so I am sure we can allow men and women to wear make up alike and dress in what they find comfortable.
For those men embarassed about wearing their partners close, I am sure they will convince us they are having a bad eye day and had no idea what they were dressing in.
Cake sounds good, but we will have to keep an eye on the sugar levels as this may send some hyper and others to sleep. To ensure healthy teeth, perhaps we need to consider a dental plan.
