Daily vision changes

Many of you already know about the vision problems I've been having recently with a graft which was thought to have failed.

Well, I'm now awaiting new specs which is aimed to help - I'm getting really depressingly bored now, as I've not been in work since Nov 30th, and they currently won't allow me back in to the office!

Anyway, here's a puzzler which I hope someone (one of the Optoms, maybe?) can help me with...

My day is now optically divided into three.

• For 1-2 hours after waking, the vision in my grafted eye is foggy. This, I understand, is due to waterlogging.
• The middle part of the day gives me fairly reasonable vision.
• The concerning end of the day makes my vision clear (as in fog-free), but blurry - as if I'm wearing the wrong glasses. I get the odd headache during this time too.

My boss has asked me whether the third part of the day's vision is poorer because I had overused my eyes during the middle; and for that reason I'm not being allowed back to work, even part-time.

Can anyone explain this? Has anyone else experienced it?

I am sorry that I have no words of wisdom, no platitudes nor even any professional insight that will help you cope with this bizarre daily progression.

I hope you will find strength to cope, and that time and your new specs will see an improvement.

I have no useful insight either and am sorry to read that you can't go back to work yet. Do you rely on this eye then or can you get away with the other one? As i know that god forbid if anything goes wrong with this graft that i will have to rely on one eye again and so could work.

Am hoping that this all clears up soon and that you get some good advice. Take it easy

John, no technical help either I'm afraid, but as I've not worked for over 4 years now I understand your frustration. Take the chance to rest your eyes as much as possible. I find talking books a godsend - they have a good selection at most libraries. I've got all the Harry Potters (!) and have just listened to the Shadow of the Wind - really good. Billy Connolly on tape never fails to crack me up, though last time I listened to it I was on a long haul flight and was laughing so much hubby removed my headphones and told me to be quiet as everyone was looking at me! Claire: I'm pretty much one-eyed really anyway. My non-grafted eye is 6/60 normally (improving to 6/30ish with a scleral that I can't wear all day )

The annoying thing is really that I feel that I could go back to work at least part-time, but the ignorance of management are keeping me away.

Lisa: Yes, talking books are indeed great. And funnily enough, I'm listening to the Harry Potters (!) too at the moment. Currently about half way through book 5. I'm glad that Jim Dale's voice is so well acted, as I'm not sure I could have coped with about 60 hours of monotone!

I have that....however when I wake up my vision isnt foggy but "normal" , as far as normal can be with glasses and a graft lol.

However, during the later part of the day I cannot see as sharp....kind of like as if I have put on another pair of glasses.......


a) Look away, and BLINK...for a few minutes.....you may look a it odd doing this.....but for some unknown reason this works for me.....and as soon as I put the glasses back on...my vision is back...to allow me to read smaller text on TV/Monitor

I had this occur more post graft in the 2-4 months...but its less now...I woudl say it occurs about once or twice a week now

Hang in there, I am afraid I can not offer any words of wisdom.

If you want to relieve the boredom, do you want to fix my desk top?

Put a network card in and got an error, managed to get the drvers on, but when I hook it up to the router all sorts of problems start.

BT Yahoo now has errors so can not log on the net and internet explorer does the same!!!!!

Could courier the base unit to you

ROFL - I'll keep those jobs in reserve. I may need them come May, as I'm transferring companies... and with a "reorganisation" bound to happen, whether the new company will want someone who's just had 6+ weeks off sick is an interesting question.

oh well, now I'm no-eyed!

The opticians now have my glasses for 24 hours whilst the lab replaces the lenses. Hopefully, by tomorrow afternoon, vision will be a bit better.

I'm "managing" now with pin-hole specs. Reasonable, but bot really an alternative!

I'll report back tomorrow.
