Hi, I am new to the site. I was diagnosed with KC 2 years ago. MY left eye is really bad, My right eye is ok at the moment. I am having a cornea graft on 3rd april 07. I am really nervous about this as I dont know anyone that has had a graft, and I wont be able to do things for my 2year old daughter.

Hi Shabana
I had a graft in my right eye in November i also have 3 children they are 9 , 5 and 3.
apart for the first 2 weeks i have been fine with the children and have been doing all the same things as i was doing before.
I was worried before the op that i would struggle with the kids but i think it has been a bit easier because all the worry about the op has gone!! and i can also see a small improvement in my vision
Hope all goes well for you in April

Hi Shabana,
Welcome to the forum,
I'll go along with what Anne said. I had my graft last thursday and nearly a week on am feeling ok.
To be on the safe side it would probably help to have a bit of support for the first couple of weeks.
From my experience so far, the operation or post operation hasn't been painful, rather the eye is slightly irritating.

Hi Shabana,
I had mine under a general at 9.15am. By 4pm the same day I was back at home. I would have been allowed home a couple of hours earlier but I didn't have someone to pick me up until after 3.
I then had to reattend the hospital the following day for a check up and had the bandage/eye shield removed.
As John mentions with the anaesthetic, it did knock me out a bit and I did sleep most of the day.
