Basically names are removed because the forum has to stay within English Law as that is where the group is registered. When I was a trustee of this group and a moderator we failed on I think two occassions to appropriatly moderate posts and in each case the group was threatend with legal action.

Any compensation and legal case would basically exhaust the Groups funds very quickly leaving the trustees to pick up the bill which could result in the trustees becoming bankrupt and would certainly lead to the end of the KC Group to give the valuble support they have done so for many years and would like to continue doing so.

What I find ironic though is that medical notes can contain all sorts of libellous, unpleasant and untrue things about patients but we can't so easily sue them!

My wife works in the NHS (not eyes) and their system is to put a staple in the corner of the treatment card of "difficult" patients!!

As you well know, my optom considers me "special", not "difficult" :D

I wore Kerasoft lenses for years before I needed a transplant. They were wonderful and gave me my life back. I know they don't suit everyone but you should at least be given the option to try them!

I know thats my thoughts exactly...

I am waiting to see if there is any NHS hospital near me which actively fits kerasoft lenses.
That way I can ask to be referred - as in my opinion if the hospital i am with wont do it, i should be able to visit another that will

Fingers crossed

:)

Try my hospital, the Royal Liverpool, the opticians there are superb and spent ages fitting my lenses properly

Lisa,

Thanks for the recommendation, and apologies for the huge delay.
After all this time trying to get Kerasoft lenses my local NHS were having none of it...

I only ever got the excuse that when they trialled them, they had a poor success rate in comparison to RGP lenses.
However, it seems from my understanding that the Kerasoft IC lenses are very good and have a high success rate!

As far as I know under the NHS Choices system I can request to be seen by any NHS hospital - therefore I am going to request a referral to a hospital I know offers Kerasoft IC lenses - it seems there isn't any private opticians in my area that offers them, and strangely no major national opticians offer such lenses - which is crazy!!
