hi
i am 50 and have KC for 30 years, it has been stable for all that time, but always a struggle with my contacs as i suffer from severe allergys that affect my eyes daily.
15 months ago i got uveitis in my left eye, since then it has been more difficult to fit a lens and my vision seems worse in that eye.
i have also had an ulcer on that eye witch has left a scar, but that has only been a problem latly although i had it 30 years ago.
anyone who has got same problems, can you let me know how you have got on with both conditions

Welcome to the forum
I am sorry to learn that you have uveitis as well as keratoconus, and do know that this can make wearing contact lenses impossible. What has your ophthalmologist suggested as a way forward?
All the best

Re: KC and uveitis
The difficulties of fitting KC eyes with contact lenses are part of the experience we share! actually, just knowing that other people had the same problems I did was one of the things that began to make it possible for me to cope with KC, the troubles of lenses that popped out or slid round to the back of my eye and the general discomfort of lenses irritating my eyelids, or the agony that accompanied the intrusion of a tiny speck of dust into my eye alongside my lens.
What sorts of lens have they tried? I went through almost every sort of RGP corneal, including rose k, before they started to try soft, hybrid and piggy back lenses in my eyes. In the end they gave me a scleral and of all the lenses I ever had, that was my favorite.
All the best.

Re: KC and uveitis
I had uveitis once in each eye when wearing sofperm lenses too much. each episode meant about a month of steroid drops and atropine and an inability to wear a lens until it had entirely cleared. there seems to be no clear medical link between KC and uveitis. since i moved on to scleral lenses the uveitis has not returned. there seemed to problem with scleral lenses and i never regretted moving on to them. hope you find a solution, rob

Hey there. Take care. It must be ghastly to have both KC and Uevitis. Really on your team here; just sorry to be so helpless.
