C3R Treatment

Postby Lynne Greyvenstein » Fri 06 Oct 2006 1:08 pm

Hi Just wondering if anyone has been to visit Dr Dya at East Grinstead. I have been referred to him for an assessment to see if I would be suitable for CR3 Treatment, (which I believe he is still waiting for approval of) or Intacs.

I have been having some problems with my left eye ( only one with KC, right one is fine) since April 06 and around that time I found I was pregnant and so they switched me to soft lenses and glasses as my optician told me that my fluids would change as the pregnancy progressed. In July I lost the baby, so sad been through a lot these last few months. However one good thing that come of it was I got to see our local eye specialist who has requested my optician try again with the hard lenses. Luckily she tried me with a Rose K lens in the left eye and I got sucess with a 5.6 steepness....if it means anything to anyone. She tells me that another girl who had been having problems was completely off the fitting set and they tried to make her one but that has been unsuccessful. So I'm thanking my lucky stars there.

My specialist also has referred me to this Dr Dya in East Grinstead who I believe is very good. I have an appointment on 6th November so have to stop using my hard lenses a month before so from this weekend. Luckily I have my soft ones for backup. I am told the assessment will take around 3 hours.

Just wanted to catch up with everyone and tell you how things is progressing with me and share any thoughts experiences or :) ideas about CR3.

Take care

Lynne

Lynne

I have been under his care for around 18 months now...and can only say good things about him. he says it how it is....presents you with data, and than the rest if up to you to decide..

Without a doubt, he is probably one of the best opthamologists around and is highly regarded globally.

Vicky

Thanks for your reply its reassuring to know Dr Dya is good and spends the time with people. Is the 3 hour assessment tiring or is it ok

Did Intacs work for you,and how is your vision now, I don't think I would be suitable as my KC seems to be still progressing and now that I lost the baby am worried that should I become pregnant again it would progress the KC

The assesments i have had there have been fine and yes tiring its not a block 3 hours it in one room then the next so you get time in between each assesment so lots of hanging around!

The Intacs have given me slightly better vision but nothing major but the steepness of my cornea has reduced so makes wearing contacts a lot easier.
If you type in Intacs in the search on this page you will be able to see other peoples experiances.

Hope this helps

C3R or intacts are aimed at priamrily aimed at reducing the steepness of the cone to make sight correction easier be it with glasses or intacts.

I fall off the scale for Rose K lenses, but my optom made some recomendations to the manufacturers and the set I have are 2 years old now and still work fine.
