Masturbating/Sex and KC

Postby reality » Wed 16 Nov 2005 8:42 pm

2 threads which have been locked about masturbating causing KC or making it worse... please can we take this seriously and not just see it as some sick joke. Like I said I am convinced my KC is getting worse from masturbating if not the cause of it in the first place. The 2nd thread is nothing to do with me and its the first time I read it. I think its important that we look for possible causes guys. I am a 25 year old male by the way.

I dont see why you keep posting the same thing?

The posts have been answered; covering both angles...its being a joke and its also being taken seriously.

The ONLY people that can help you are your family/girlfried and your consultant......I suggest

a) Speaking with your consultant about this

or

b) speaking with your family asking for help

The fact that no link has ever been made with Masterbating and KC would also indicate that you may be the "chosen" one....so Id recommend taking this up with the consultant so they can help you....or the simple solution is to STOP masterbating!..take up another hobbie to relieve your frustrations?.....Boxing?...Ballet Dancing etc?

So is this not a forum where you discuss Keratoconus? I'm wondering if there are other people on here who have also noticed masturbating/sex making their KC worse. I'm never going to find out if my threads keep getting locked.

But clearly noone has had this issue...and as the threads were locked, if ANYONE did have this issue they would have used there brains and send you a PM in your inbox.

The fact that this issue has NEVER been reported or spotted makes you VERY SPECIAL...thats how Id put it....so speak with a Eye Specialist?..Or go into a High Street Opticians and get there thoughts on what you have noticed?..aside from that theres very little I can add...Im sure others may comment.

I have previously sustained from engaging in this thread as I personally am unable to countenance engagement on such a topic in an open forum where those who choose to take offence can do so.

As this topic is of a sensitive nature, and not one that would commonly be counselled in a public environment I suggest you take guidance from the medical proffession who are best placed to waylay your concerns and educate you sufficiently to make your own lifestyle choices.

Erring on the side of caution, I can also understand that you may not feel comfortable talking to professionals about this and look to the Internet as an anonymous environment where you may find support. Few of us have sufficient experience to enlighten your plight, I would however recommend abstenance as a palliative technique to preserve your failing sight. Whilst you seek more suitable counsel.

I trust i have been of some service

Drew

Ok ...

Just wanted to add that i'm sorry that you feel that we aren't taking this seriously, but please understand where we are coming from in this.

A few posts have covered this topic now, whether all posted by you is of no real importance, but as there have been no responses from anyone saying the same then please take it that either no-one can share this problem and give you advice, or that they would rather not post about such a topic publically.

You have to agree that you are a new poster, unknown to anyone here, and yet decide to post about such a sensitive topic straightaway, then getting upset when no-one replies! You must realise that most people are very wary about posting on forums, and may have experienced hoax posts before, so would probably be unwilling to post to someone new about such a delicate subject.

So my feeling is ... that you try to share this with a professional and get some expert advice, as so far no-one here can share this problem, so be able to give you some support as to how they have dealt with it. And that if you have anything else worrying you about KC, that you come back and post and we'll try to help. Getting to know each other here goes a long way in attempting to ask personal questions and indeed replying to them!

Take care

I've e-mailed the other guy on here who said his KC was caused by masturbating, hopefully he'll e-mail me back, it will be interesting if he was told this by a specialist or came to the conclusion by himself. I honestly dont understand why the thread was locked though I mean who would troll a KC message board?

Dear reality,
Assuming youa re serious, please, please, go and talk to your doctor about this.
No-one here has ever heard of sex affecting KC.
There *are* other health conditions that can be affected by sexual activity.
I am not medically qualified and am not allowed to make a diagnosis.
It is possible that you ahve something *else* (in addition to the KC) that is causing the symptoms you describe.
Unfortunatley, having KC doesn't make us immune from all the other diseases in the world1
Please, please, go and get yourself checked out.
It could be something simple; it could be something that really needs to be sorted out.
OK?
Rosemary

Here is an interesting study:

Masturbation 'positively benefits eyesight' survey shows
David Blunkett living proof of terrible effects of self-restraint
by Geoff Pattison
A government-sponsored study carried out by opticians throughout the country has come up with what staff at The Rockall Times have known all along — that masturbation has positive benefits for the eyesight, and that men who refrain from it risk severe and lasting damage to their vision.
The study, which cost only £2.34 per household per week, involved all non-females who had their eyes tested in Britain during 2002 and emerged needing glasses. Before leaving the optician's shop, they were asked to rate their masturbatory frequency on a scale from 0 (never) to 10 (several times daily). To ensure scientific openness and for the avoidance of doubt, the question was shouted to them across the reception desk through a megaphone by a qualified female receptionist and the answer repeated through the megaphone for the client to confirm.
Surprisingly, the study found that not a single person diagnosed as needing glasses ever masturbated.
Since clearly some proportion of the male population must indulge in self-abuse, the study was able to conclude that they must be the ones who either passed the eye test, or did not need it in the first place because their visual acuity had been so well honed by the five-finger shuffle.
Jack Straw, speaking for the government, welcomed the report. "I never doubted the link between that procedure and eyesight," he told us. "Just look at me. I wear glasses, but I'm remarkably fit in every other way. Look at the size of my forearms!"
President Tony "four eyes" Blair admitted that the report came as no surprise to him. "It is a fact," he said, "that Onan who originated the practice had eyes like a hawk. I've asked Blunkett to look into adding it to the National Curriculum. We could issue a step-by-step leaflet with colour illustrations and perhaps the older boys could show the young ones how to do it. I notice Brown doesn't wear glasses!"
A spokesman for the Society of Optometrists recommended caution. "It is a fact," he said, "that what Onan was really indulging in was coitus interruptus, and there's a world of difference between that and full-blown masturbation. My members would hate to see their businesses decimated by everyone starting to abuse their bodies, only to find afterwards that there are unknown side effects. Doesn't it lead to hairy palms or something?"
