Where to go next?

Postby Stace234 » Wed 26 Sep 2012 8:13 pm

Hi

I was diagnosed with KC at 14 in my right eye and a year later in my left. It has rapidly progressed for the past 7 years and i have tried hard and soft contact lenses which correct my vision. My problem is that without contact lenses, my left eye is very dominant as my right eye vision is very poor. Contact lenses however correct my right eye vision extensively and my left eye only slightly, meaning that my right eye becomes dominant.

I find this change disorientating and i struggle to focus on anything. It almost feels like my eyes cant agree which one to look out, its a very odd feeling. I also get headaches as well and as a result i have not been wearing my contacts frequently. My KC has got to the point now where night driving is near impossible and even bright sunlight causes issues, both very frustrating. I feel like i have run out of options and i have started to look at collagen cross-linking and intacs which i am not sure about or know where to get accurate information.

Does anybody experience the same problem as me? Or can offer advice about what i should do next?

Thanks
Stacey x

Hi Stacey,
I have similar problems to you especially with bright lights and night driving. I have been struggling with the rigid lens in my 'bad' eye and I am now having CXL and T-CAT laser treatment in 2 weeks time... I'm hoping this is the right decision to improve my vision and hopefully be able to manage with soft lenses.

Hi Stecey,
Are you on our postal mailing list and have you had our information booklet on KC and the DVD of our 2009 conference, both of which cover Intacs and crosslinking? If you haven't seen these, do e-mail your postal address to anne@keratoconus-group.org.uk and I'll send them to you.

Hi Stacey

I have a similar issue, but have found wearing only one contact lens, on my good eye makes my vision really good, it sounds strange but works for me

Thanks
