Pete if you're out there how did the op go?
Has anyone else heard how Pete got on?
Never cry over spilt milk.It could have been whisky!

Hi Pauline

Thanks for your thoughts! :)

Op went very well.Some discomfort the first day,but mainly due to my eye lid being swollen and tender,but no pain.
Definite improvement in vision straight away.(Was a bit of a novelty to the consultants as has very steep cone and required an 8mm diameter graft which I understand is quite big!)
First couple of days I was very sensitive to bright lights.
Went back after 5 days for the post op check and all was well.
Drove car for the first time within a week.
Back at work after 2 weeks.
Eye sometemes feels dry/tired at the end of a day,but otherwise I almost forget I even had the op done.
Even the 2 hourly eye drop regime is not too bad.
Very happy so far.
Go back to Morrfields on the 29th for refraction test,so that will be the real test as to its success,but so far,so good....
For anyone about to undergo a corneal graft,the anticipation is worse than the reality!

PS General anaesthetics are great!

Good to hear from you. I'm glad to hear all went well for you and wish you luck with your upcoming tests even though i have no idea what they are!!! :)

Was going to pm you to see how you are but noticed a post to you!! LOL!! Am really glad that things are going well with you and that you are back in work and driving! Wonderful news!!

Hehehe yea GA's are very good arent they though some get very sick! But as with most things there are drugs to solve that as well!

Ok ... well little nurse here has done her post op checking in now!! Keep us posted on how you're doing! Take care!

Had a bit of a fright yesterday.My 2 year old son managed to poke me in the eye.Fortunately seems OK now!
And from today I am on a 4 hourly regime with the drops,which is a problem,because its much easier to forget to do them! :wink:

Pete,

A friend of mine wrote a PC program that sounds a loud whistle and colours the screen whenever it's time for an eye drop (or other medication).

I'll happily pass it on to you if you'd find it useful.

1st refraction test post op tomorrow!I`ll let you now how I get on.Other than that 1 month post op I`m extremely happy.

Excelllent....let us know how it goes!

Had mine last week we got 6/9.....havent seen that well in 7 years!

They think they can get 6/6 with a little time. But then it can all change when/if I need stitches out?!
KC is about facing the challenges it creates rather than accepting the problems it generates -
