Small white lump on the sclera.

Postby Philip N » Sun 05 Jun 2005 10:49 pm

Hi All,

On Thursday night I noticed a small white lump on the sclera of my right eye slightly larger than the nib of a ball point pen. I use a scleral lens in this eye and it could be about where the lens meets the sclera, a went in and briefly saw a local optician on Saturday who (didn’t look at it with any equipment) said it isn’t inflamed and looks to be nothing more than a lump of fatty tissue? :? (If I recall correctly.)

I haven’t worn my lenses all weekend and will only wear my left one tomorrow but I am quite nervous about putting the scleral back in, has anyone else experienced this? I don’t think it’s an ulcer or anything as there is no pain, discomfort or redness. Does anyone know what this might be, what causes it and what I should do..?

Regards,

Philip.

Hi

I would get down to the Optician / CLinin to get it checked out.......if you cant get to the Hospital then def get a Optician to take a look as he MAY be able to provide more info

Hello Philip

Who fitted your scleral lens? Can you go back to them for them to check things out?

It may well be nothing however I would strongly suggest that it is worth getting it checked out, if only to put your mind at rest.

best wishes, Susan.
