I prefer Mutton to Lamb, but it is hard to source in a world dominated by the young sheep market. Since it was the NZ trade that led to the sudden expansion in the Lamb market, maybe they couldn't afford to let their mutton mature because it would have cost too much in sun specs for sheep.
Gareth, I think you may be onto something here. when Matthew finishes his MBA, he can undertake some research into the comparative eyesight of Scottish, Welsh and NZ sheep, calculate the t value for the three populations agains the English Lake District Sheep and let us know if the rates of KC in the different populations are related.
Then he can look at familial KC in the different populations and let us know whether there is a significantly greater chance of sheep with familial KC developing the condition than those in the general population of which they are part.
