I'm wondering if i can get decent UV filter shades cheaper due to having KC,i've looked around for some decent ones and real UV ones are very pricey,has anyone had any joy getting them on the NHS or discounted at all?

I'm asking about help getting them more than where to find them,i'm a young fashionable and social bloke so obviously i want some that don't make me look a total pilok and i will buy some,im just wondering about help getting them,mates who wear glasses have all had prescription ones made u but i go into an optician and they look kinda vague when i mention the KC factor!

There are no allowances for KC as such whatsoever on the high street or in hospitals. What allowances there are are equally relevant to people with other eye conditions.

So really, the only reason you could get any help at all is if you are eligible on income grounds.

Click on the products starting with SAP on the product code, I have the ones coded SAP-185-050.

They are wrapround black glasses witha smoke lens and are certified 100% UVA and B protecting.

Very few people realise they are not your usual sunglasses and at a cost of £7.40 (+ VAT), for me there is nothing out there better for a higher or lower price.

I find these ideal for wearing while my lenses are in as they shield my eyes from dust too.

Unfortunatly useless if you have prescription glasses.

just kidding.This is a real issue and the links the guys have already given are worth the price to experiment.
my optician has a selection of Designer ones from Addidas which I'm gonna look at when i'm next in.
my current ones are from M&S and i still hav,nt lost or sat on them.
I,ve lost count of the pairs i,ve had and lost over the years

Nice one Del but i fear any such fund would end up being spent on Stella!

I'm fancying some Bench or Diesel frames,the opticians i went in today said they won't do them with UV lenses unless that's how tey come form the factory so i'll have to have a pair that are suitable in that way and just take the expense on the chin,i odn't have overly sensitive eyes in the sun,and living part-time in the Aegean has shown this,but they are slightly more sensitive than a non KC person would find thiers to be,otherwise i'd just go down the nearest knock-off shop and by some genuine fakes!

And I have to be very boring and warn anyone thinking of going to a "knock off" store - its likely fake designers will have lenses that can end up damaging your eyes if used in situations with high UV.

After all.. lens quality is the last thing on your mind when you are making fakes!

And if you think I am being over cautious - just what would you think if you used fake sun block and got badly sunburned? Fake designers can satisfy cravings for fashion on a budget but please do no think they will actually work properly as protection from UV becasue there is no guarantee they will do that and you can't tell just by looking at them.

(And some people seem to think that they can buy a fake sunglass and its OK because it has a label on it saying UV filters. Ahem... labels are faked as well!)
