KC Poem

Postby Knight » Thu 16 Feb 2006 2:53 pm

Funny the things we do while we wait, eh? But at the hospital today I humoured myself and wrote this. Not, Shakespeare, obviously, but then again he never had KC... :P ... I might polish and structure it better another time but here yall go ...

They don't know much because I don't say,
often wondering behind these shades.
My sight, my sight hurts my head today,
plain questions after corrections made.

To watch, to see and view often strain,
the patch inside my eye in bright haze.
Appearing thoughtful behind this rain,
dark glasses hide my sensitive gaze.

My hands see the world at times shallow,
as a cliff top edge I see the stairs.
Comfort from time to time in shadow,
foggy around my feet mindful cares.

I know my eyes mirrors second home,
solutions held to each mystery.
Even empty rooms found not alone,
in case, my case and drops if dusty!

This condition Keratoconus,
wink and blink in corners of a room.
Few few we are until you know us,
content behind comfortable gloom.
Only those with KC know the hidden beauty of a Christmas Tree.

Thanks Knight

You have a gift for language and its use, and thanks to you I am aquiring a vocabulary that I can deploy when talking to others about my experience of KC.

Yours aye

Andrew

Oh thank you for that, I never even considered that before, even half of what I'm writing although the other half I do put some effort into it :) so this is a nice boost to read! I am pleased you found any inspiration in anything I have writen, and as always it is a pleasure.
What I found in talking to others about my experiences and KC in general, isn't so much the ordinary comparisons, but rather, the unusual comparison I try to make, as the point and meaning seem to stick better.
Only those with KC know the hidden beauty of a Christmas Tree.
