Hehe! To be honest if it had been offered to me i think i would have done a lot better knowing it was a local as then i wouldn't have worried so much about not waking up! Janet i am so glad that everything went well with you, and also that you didn't find out how bad things could be with a general during the eye op, that could have been really bad!
I do really well having stitches removed, or maybe it is because lately i have had so many! But even my surgeon has said that he has no problems, i just wish that they could be left there a lot longer!!

Rather my early diagnosis is that I have Wolfe Parkinson White syndrome. As such until further tests, my heart consultant has today cancelled my operation due to risk.
Blimey Chris.
Glad that they found out what was going on for you and really hope that they can sort you out.
If you could keep them occupied with the ticker for a couple of months that would be great as it moves me up DeCocks list a tad quicker!
Take care
Paul
Hi Paul, I was thinking of you when my operation was cancelled. Come thursday morning I wondered if you were on my operating table, being given my new cornea.

If so I would have been applying for visitation rights to check you looked after him properly.

I do hope though that you've been bumped up the waiting list.

My son was diagnosed with the same heart condition and has just had his tonsils out under general anaesthetic. Repeated tonsilitis can put pressure on your heart, so we are now wondering whether it was this that caused the massive palpitations all along!
You could always suggest to your eye surgeon that you have the graft with a local. I had both mine that way no problem - home 45 mins after coming out of theatre!
Hi Janet,
I find that really interesting as I have suffered so many sore throats in the past.
I must admit though that the thought of having my graft under a local is rather scary. I like the fact that under general I'll have a long sleep and then wake up with a new cornea.
But if my heart is an issue I'll definately ask about a local. Thank you

I'm with you on both counts, ChrisK.
Nervous of the prospect of watching while they grafted a new cornea onto my eye, but I think that even I'd be willing to do that if I had heart trouble.
Let us know what your ophthalmologist says.

Thanks Andrew, I'm just waiting for an appointment to come through. The sooner the better, as I dread to think how far I have fallen back down the waiting list.
Still my dodgy cornea has been behaving recently and although I can't see out of it, it has been causing me minimal pain

Nope I wasn't on the table.
More importantly hows you?

I'm great thanks Paul, I'm currently enjoying being under doctors orders not to exert myself.
By the way, If when you are called in you are asked to bring a urine sample... Don't!!!!! Everytime they call me in they ask me to and each time I leave the hospital I am left wandering around Canterbury with a sample no-one at the hospital wants.

Right thats noted - cheers. If they want one they can give me a pot and wait for me to produce one!
Though I bet SWMBO won't believe it.
