DJ Smak Have you always had better vision at night?

To be honest, i cannot remember, i never really thought about it.

When I was a younger man I used to prefer driving at night. there was never any glare, traffic was lighter and on country roads you could tell if you were coming to a junction where there was another car by the lights playing on the toad or through the trees.

It is really interesting that DJ should report having better vision at night.

I no longer benefit from this effect but I certainly think it was present for many years.

I should add that my better vision at night is of course using my glasses or my lenses, well, i don;t wear my lenses now as im still waiting for a proper fit on my sclerals.

What part of Canada.

How are ophthalmological services in your part of the world?

I live in southwestern Ontario, kind of Eastern Canada. I''ve only dealt with my eye doctor so i don't know how it is across the country but I'm finding that the process of getting my lenses is rather slow, could just be the office and not a representation of the whole country. Its been a few months since i stated that i was getting sclerals and I've only been for one fitting, i have my next one on monday. Seems too slow for me as well, when i got my new glasses, i waited 3 months till they came in, they said its coz of the special prescription i rquired but i had the glasses for 2 weeks and already my eyesight has changed again. Its not cheap either, i have to pay for everything out of my pocket

Fitting lenses for KC eyes is a difficult job: they try one fit and it doesn't quite work, so they try another ...

sometimes they manage to get a comfortable fit first time, and other times, well you know about the other times. the good news is that when you get a good fit the improvement to your sight is simply amazing, and can last for many years.

Like most Scottish people I have many firends in canada, in the Maritimes and in the extreme West, Vancouver and vancouver Island.

Hi Drew

hope you are keeping well (and Yates too).

I must be really odd as I seem to be able to see more letters if I shake my head about or tip it to one side and then nod it up and down. My optom doesn't seem to be overly concerned about this and we have a good laugh about it as I am sure that without realising I must do it out and about when trying to focus on things, well it takes all sorts.
Needless to say I haven't driven for a long long time and whilst some days I can just about scrap through and get the letters on the line that indicate driving standard as I know this varies greatly from hour to hour or even minute to minute I had no concerns about giving up the driving.

Who knows what may happen next my eyes are very odd. Currently my bad eye, which has been difficult for 4 or so years is now my good one. Looking back I am glad I didn't go down the route of a graft this time last year as if I had and my eyes had changed as they have I may not have been seeing at all. At least this way for now I am seeing as well as I feel I will for now and my scleral lenses seem to be ok for now.
