Thanks everyone for all the advice :D .

I now have the minims and the redness is almost gone 8) . I managed to get an emergency appointment at the hospital and all they concluded was that I was allergic to the preservative - tell me something I didn't know  ! Anyway the good news is that my vision is back to 'normal'. I recall that on the previous occassion I was given both the drops and the ointment and the effect was agonising  so I will only be using the minims from now on - whatever the cost to my GP  ! I am feeling much happier now and really appreciate everyones help, it's good to have such a knowledgeable group to talk to when there is a problem  .

Good to hear things are much better for you.

If your GP complains about price, ask him/her to put a price on their own health

Sally

I agree wholeheartedly with Gareth. Actually, your GP is not paying for the Minims; you are. If you make a contribution to the cost of your prescription then that element you pay direct. The rest you pay through direct and indirect taxation.

Appropriate medication is not a priviledge that somebody else affords us; it is a right for which we have paid with cash!

Unlikely that an infection would change the prescription permanently.
Not unlikley that getting sore red and swollen eyes from a preservative allergy might give poor vision short term.
hope it sorts itself out with the preservative-free drops.

Hi sally,

if you have a presevative allergy try to make a note of which on it is. They are listed ont he back of the bottle. Most likely to be benxalkonium Chloride?

Minims are fab. All non preserved solutions are fab. Preservatives are evil, but sometimes a necessity!

Glad to hear you are on the mend. It should only take 48-72 hrs. to clear up.

Thanks David I'll do that :D . Now it has affected me twice I will be sure to get minims each time. I just hope my surgery don't kick up a fuss :x ! I seem to have a number of allergies to medications and vaccines so they already have to provide me with expensive alternatives so this won't cheer them up!
Oh the joys of this disease never cease to amaze me :? !

Sally

Sally

They are not paying for your expensive alternatives YOU ARE! Too bad if they don't like it. What you need is what you need.
