Dry eyes

Does anyone have any advice about which lubricating drops are most effective in alleviating a dry eye (with KC and a semi-scleral lens)?

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions. I've tried systane, evolve, thealoz...

I use Hyabak which is made by Thea who also do Thealoz and Thealoz Duo (which appears to be a combination of the two). I tried a few of the drops that are Sodium Hyaluronate based and I settled on Hyabak.

I have no idea if Thealoz or Thealoz Duo would help. I might actually ask at my next appointment.

I find the rest of the products offered by Thea (blephaclean) to be as good as any so I've stuck with them.

I realise it's a case of trial and error but I'm a bit despondent after quite a few trials and quite a few errors.

I use a mixture of Systane Ultra eye drops (preservative free) + Xailin gel.

I suffer from extreme dryness with my eyes, particularly when I wear my semi sclerals. I also wear the Kerasofts.

I started using flaxseed oil (in tablet form) about a year ago and have found its has helped with the dryness in my eyes.

I wear an RGP in x1 post transplant eye and the dryness is getting difficult.
My flat has low humidity which doesnt help and yes I do sometimes run a humidifier.
I use Hylo-tear and hypromellose but on a bad day I'm pouring it in.
Would value any suggestions till next appt, for example is it worth trying out another lubricant?
I dont know the difference between Hylo-tear and Forte for example, whether they're all RGP compatible, or any specific to night time use.

Any suggestions welcomed

Hylo Forte has double the concentration of the active ingredient (sodium hyaluronate) as Hylo Tear so would be worth a try. I'm sure people have talked about night time use dry eye medication on this forum, but I can't remember what the products were. Maybe someone else can help.

Apparently it used to be thought that dry eyes were simply caused by a lack of tear flow. Now we know that your tears actually have several components that need to be in balance. If the oily component is missing (which comes from the glands that typically get blocked with blepharitis) your tears evaporate quicker and the eye gets dry. KC, dry eye and Blepharitis are often all present in the same eye. As you have seen there are several drops that are used. I've recently been prescribed Thealoz Duo from Moorfields and it works really well for me - better than Hylo Forte. I've also used VitA-POS at night which is good but can take a while to clear in the morning as it is lanolin based.
