I got a scleral lens 3 days ago.
Previously, I had corrected my keratoconus vision with specs. I only had a partial correction, but I only have it in one eye.
Anyway, I thought that with the scleral lens I would achieve near-perfect vision, so I thought I would give it a go.
Now, it has only been 3 days, but so far my vision seems worse.
I am struggling with a lot of ghosting/halos.
Do you think this is because it just takes a while for the brain to get used to the new correction? And that it takes a while for ones vision to settle into a new prescription?
Or do you think that the new prescription is just wrong?
It's weird, because in the hospital the eye test was great. But now in practice it just doesn't seem right?
I am wondering if it's an adjustment thing or a concrete problem!?!?!?
Anyone else with a similar experience?
I will of course try to get in touch with the optometrist chap at the hospital. But it would be helpful if anyone here also has any advice or experience that they would like to share.
Thanks,
Andrew

Re: Vision with scleral lens
Could it be some pockets of trapped air underneath the lens causing the halos/ghosting?
Re: Vision with scleral lens
I don't think so.
I have struggled to avoid air bubbles on insertion, but I have been really meticulous and I keep on trying (taking them in & out) until I am satisfied its correct (this morning in took me 40 minutes (!)).

Re: Vision with scleral lens
I think you should go back to see your practitioner. I would be concerned if it was taking me 40 mins to insert. There are several things that could be wrong: fit, prescription. technique. Are you wearing specs over the top?
Re: Vision with scleral lens
No specs at the moment, just the scleral lens.
Still just experiencing a partial correction, rather than great vision, but I have a new appt with the optometrist in 6 weeks.
Should I expect more than a partial correction with a scleral lens? I don't know if my expectations are just too high!
Beginning to get the hang of insertion, but best so far is 2nd attempt! Looking forward to getting it down pat - it's only been a week so far and it is getting easier.
Thanks for the advice!
