Hi All,

After lots of reading on this site I've decided to bite the bullet and see if I can have cross linking done. I've spoken with my hospital and they think it's unlikely that my left eye (which is the one I want done) can be done but it's worth a punt I think especially if it stops it getting any worse.

Anyway I'm off to see Prof Shah at the Midland Eye Institute for a consultation on the 21st May - so fingers crossed!

Just out of interest any of you been there or seen Prof Shah?

Cheers

Chris

Hi All,

Well after a bit of poking and prodding (The automated machines didn't seem to work very well with my eyes!!) I got my answer!

I can have it done. I have about 10 mircons left before my cornea is too thin (Might be slightly less than that). Professor Shah normally likes to get a couple of scans 6-9 months apart to make sure the eye is still changing as he doesnt like to do it on stable eyes, but as I had a new lens recently it does show that it is changing and I'm close to the limit of being able to do it he is happy to do it. (especially given it's pretty risk free)

Only problem is my scar on my eye. If that comes off with the removal of the top layer I am all good to go. He thinks it will so doesn't see it being an issue but had to mention it to me.

I'm pretty pleased. I was worried my left eye might get a lot worse still and so this, if nothing else, can give me peace of mind it wont!

Cheers

Chris
