Vision

I'm four months post graft and taking pred forte two times a day. My vision is still blurry but good enough to be able to see where an walking now! I recently started getting a dry eye so took a celluvisc drop and my vision suddenly became very clear for around two minutes I couldn't believe it but after two or three mins it just goes back to normal can anyone explain this?

Hi Adam

No miracle cure alas :-( :-)

Most likely to be when you inserted the drop, a nice big wodge of fluid landed on your cornea and (due to the viscosity of the Celluvisc eye drops product) formed a near-perfect outer, secondary "half sphere" pseudo lens. Effectively, you had the worlds best custom-made soft contact lens. It could have sorted out any refractive error you have still and also fixed any residual irregularities with the shape of the surface of your cornea post-graft. I've had similar experiences with saline drops -- but these lack the necessary "gloopyness" which is required to maintain the effect for more than a few seconds. And to a lesser extent with FML drops which although similar in their characteristics to the Carmellose synthetic polymer, their opacity lessens the overall effect.

I think that's it, anyway.

Nice while it lasts ! But it doesn't last long (shame...)

Best wishes

Chris
