I'm scheduled to have PKP next week, and have recently sought a second opinion from another doctor, who recommended her procedure, FLAK - basically using a laser to do the cutting portion of the surgery rather than a scalpel.
It is popularly regarded that FLAK has a faster healing time with earlier, better visual acuity. A little more research suggests that for Keratoconus, there is no discernible difference between the two surgeries in terms of speed of visual acuity recovery.
Does anyone have any experience with these procedures, and would you recommend one over the other?
This was the research article I'm referring to, some interesting reading at least.
