I am really grateful to you all for sharing my excitement! My wife and I went out for a little celebratory dinner the other evening (Guys Restaurant in Candleriggs; very nice), and now I am waiting here for my telephone to ring, with the optician telling me that my glasses can be collected.
I have filled in the form for the DVLA. All I need to do now is add my driver number (I think I once saw this on my license), and then it can go into the post. I guess it will take the DVLA about six weeks to get round to opening my letter but soon after I should get word about the hoops they want me to jump through; and then I am back to driving.
I must say I have mixed feelings about driving again: it has been frustrating and inconvenient to need to depend on public transport or my wife to drive me around, but I have enjoyed the increased time I have spent with Alison as she has driven me hither and thither.
Anyhow; thanks again for sharing my excitement. Out of interest, the view acorss the Clyde this morning is glorious. The sun shines in a limpid blue sky and the hills and mountains are covered with snow.
