Wearing RGP Lenses in USA

Hi Guys

Ive been wearing RGP lenses for about 4 months now. I find them uncomfortable at the best of times.
I am going to florida in september this year, Has anyone any experience of wearing lenses in such hot condition, and in air conditioned environments. I dont want to spoil my holiday, with me having to fiddle with my eyes constantly.

Best advice I can give is to drinks lots of water rather than coffee, tea or fizzy dtrinks. Stay out of the direct flow of aircon as much as possible.

Heat and humidity is uncomfortable, but pretty much eye friendly. It is hot and dry (low humidity) that makes the eyes dry.

Use lubricating eye drops, I always use them, they do take a couple of weeks to start having real benefits, but they help me with general lens comfort. Take wetting eye drops too.

My job involves frequent travel to hot climate countries. I actually find my RGPs to be more comfortable in hotter climates and particularly with humidity. You may find it may take a day to to adjust to the new sensations but then all is ok. my only worries are if it gets windy as then your more likely to catch dust under your lenses , I have a a good pair of sunglasses that help a little in protecting from dust.

Air conditioning is only a problem if im directly in line with the vent, however ceiling fans can be uncomfortable at times.

i'm in a position i can get by without mine, so i'm bad and dont wear mine on holiday Dont half appreciate it when i get home tho

When you are on the plane take your lenses out for a couple of hours to give your eyes a rest. If your sight is really poor without the lenses in then let the cabin crew know so that they are aware in case of emergencies.

In my experience, american coffee has so little caffeine that it would make no difference: I think they go in for the homeopathic approach ot caffeine drinking.

Joking apart, I wore RGP corneals in the United States, hired an airconditioned car and drove part of Route 66 from Chicago to St Louis.

I kept drining water (bottled) and when we stopped I would take out my lenses and drop in some artificial tears. My vacation was not spoiled!
