I think if you have a rigid idea in your mind of how you want your life to be then KC is harder to live with. You have to be flexible and roll with the punches. If you put your mind to it there are ways round nearly every problem.
My KC has forced me to make changes in my life that would be unthinkable to someone with no health problems, but hey, I'm happy. I've lived with KC for so long that to me the way I live is normal and everyone does things oddly.
am i supposed to have a normal life????????

Life with KC is what you make it.
Generally I've found that I have adapted and can still do most things that I used to be able to do, apart from drive. No longer employed, but that's a subject to discriinination appeal and a different story for another time.
Have INTACS surgery scheduled for 8th Feb on my right eye, hoping to be able to read at least 1 line unaided once the vision settles down.

Hmmm Egypt
Hey There Eman,
Although I did not get the opportunity to experience Egypt much my husband is living there and has been for a couple of months now and probably will be there until September this year. He suffers from KC but his condition was only discovered a year ago however his sight deteriorated rapidly.
I must say he did continuously worry about his sight and would get frustrated at the begining of our marriage when I could see things and he couldn't eg road signs. However at the moment he is honestly "living it large" if I can say. He had his intac operation a week ago and although there is no improvement in sight yet he is leading a so-called "normal" life. He was out bowling yesterday!!
Keep your head up and Keep smiling. Having family around you should really give you that extra push for a better day. Personally I found that the more i learned about it the easier it was to cope with and get on. This website has been great help!!

i am 25 and have had KC since i was 12 yes we can live a normal life.
in life we decide what we want to achieve and if we have the determination then we can do anything.
yes having KC causes problems.
i have sight in one eye in the other i can see light and dark and shadows.
but i still go ice skating i do what i feel id like to do.
KC is about facing the challenges it gives us but with support from this site and the support group meetings i get so much help from that.
it is scary having KC but at the same time its a new challenge to deal with everyday.

NormalLife and KC
Well we could get a bit deep on this one. You have to go with the flow and accept you will have the bad patches. Can u have a normal life with Tennis elbow, a badly smashed collar bone and a desire to put off old age by having your hair coloured (currently dark chocolate with plum and copper highlights).
I am not being facetious I am luckier than most but sometimes luck is what you make it be prepared to bend with the wind.
Brief History
Glasses at 5 years of age
Contact lenses at 11 years of age
Corneal ulcers at 18 cause poor contact lensecare,overwearing and irreglar checkups.
Started Horseriding at 27
Bought horse at 30
Major change in sight at 39 and a half with move to new lenses (softperm which dont suit everyone my brother gave up on them)
Passed Driving test at 40 (first time as I was too stubborn to fail) so paranoid about failing the sight test I nailed a number plate to the garden fence and measured the correct reading distance down the road. Spent many a lunch hour walking the streets reading car number plates and pacing the distance on to the car. Bought Ford Escort
Age 42 bought 4 x 4 to tow horse box.
Started Painting
Now Age 52 and a bit still driving, compete regularly Cross Country with current horse do a bit of dressage badly and always photocopy the tests into larger text
Paint in watercolour and Acrylic and have had a couple of exhibitions ! Only answeredthe door with painton my nose once.
What if I wake up tomorrow and cant drive ?
I will sellmy trailer, I will sell my 4 x 4 I will catch buses,taxis or cycle.
I will still paint and ride my horse I will still work (in IT) and I will definitly still dye my hair and eat chocolate.
I should also say that since I was 20 I have had a really really good bloke. My Bill but we wont tell him how good he is as it would go to his head and hes 60 this year!
