Donna

I fine it easier to go from extremes. My contact lenses give me full vision. Without I am partially sighted in the left and legally blind in the right but I can cope very well without lenses.

Tries glasses to give me a degree of balanced vision, but just could not get used to them. I think because my brain is better adapted a interpreting a full blur rather than multiple image blurs!

In a strange kind of way I am looking forward to getting my conatacts now! I am a bit worried about wearing them as I do get dry tired eyes and I hate anything irritating my eyes, but I will get used to it and I can always ask on here if I need any advice

The best I have found for dry tierd eyes to to ensure I drink at least 2 lites of water per day rather than tea/coffee or fruit drinks as these all conatin certain amounts of dieretics.

Straight forward water is best.

In addition I use Systane eye drops by Alcon, others use Blink by Amo.

Before I settled on my choosen drops I tried six diffent ones for a week before changing. Now I only use them morning and night. some drops can be used when the lenses are in. Sytane however, you need to remove your lenses before putting the drops in. I had to do this when I first used them, as I could only toerate lenses for 2 hours, but over a period of time with these the gap has increased so that I get a easy 12 hours lens wear.

Gareth,

I found it took me a lot of time to get used to seeing something with glasses without feeling perculiar. My current glasses are ten years old but it is only in the last three years or so that I have managed to see comfortably with them. The multiple images are still there - but just slightly easier to interpret than without glasses.

I guess it depends how bad your eyes are. I can't make out even the top letter without them! When my eyes were tested on Sunday the readings were RIGHT sph -11.5 +2.50 cyl and LEFT -9.75 sph +1.50 - but the actual prescription was backed off from this as my current glasses are -7.25.

I'm going to buy a cheap pair of glasses (OK they'll be milk bottle bottoms) so that I can get used to the presciption and then next year get the prescription refined so that I can have a proper back-up pair of glasses.

Although I wear contact lenses 15+ hours a day (seven days a week) I think for me a pair of back glasses is useful for emergencies - but they are never going to give me the sight contact lenses give me.

Lia,

I tried to cope with glasses for the three months the optom was correcting my sight with lenses. The glasses I had which were already 2 years old could not be improved upon by the hospital. Tried using them after lenses with the left lens backed off so what I saw was more like the right eye with the best correction to take the lopsided vision away. More than two years on with these glasses still no joy, I cope better without them.

This is the only sight management system to beat me, but not worried as I have overcome so many other things it is comletely insignifficant the effect not being able to wear glasses when lenses are not in use.
Gareth
