The blind lead (guitar) ing the blind.

Postby Jake » Tue 16 Jan 2007 11:09 pm

I read with interest in the last news letter I received, an article about a high percent of KC-ers being musicians. I don't have the text with me now but from memory I believe the figure stood around 80% and although based upon a survey of only around five people, I found this percentage quite amazing! Being a guitar tutor myself, I was hoping that by raising this point again, I could maybe attract as much attention as the post I read today did. The post I refer to suggested that us special lot may be prone to paranoid, compulsive, anxious tendencies. Given the massive response this post received and praying that the musical 80% figure is correct, is anyone up for joining my orchestra?

Jake,

I can play a tune or two on the guitar although I'm the only one who can recognise it :o. I am also trying to learn how to play the ukulele which is totally different from the guitar.

So if you don't mind a very slow plucker in your orchestra I'll join.

i can play the tambourine or the triangle if thats any good to you!

However when i was at school i played piano and the flute pretty succesfully, although any such talent was left at the school gate unfortunatley, so would i fall in the 80% since i "had" a musical talent??

Jake - Been learning guitar off and on for around three years and play fairly badly - but I am interested so I think that counts!

Sorry can't carry a tune in a bucket! But good luck. I have always admired musical people because its an inaccessible area for me.

I played the cornet for about 13 years and really enjoyed it! I was a member of a few brass bands and toured with them. Sadly my vision got worse and i couldn't see to read the music anymore so had to give up.

I do miss it, but i think it is more the social life!!

jake, I plead guilty.......been a musician all my life. Visit http://www.islandpiper.com or http://www.kdavisviolins.com for an idea of how I spend my days, and often evenings. Here I thought that owning and operating a business made me crazy. How wrong I was, now I can blame it on my KC!!

I've never been called a SLOW PLUCKER, but have been called a STUPID PLUCKER ...... at least I THINK that's what they called me...... :D

Let me grab a penny whistle and I'll play along in the new KC Orchestra.

Cheers, Piper

louise......but, can you dance?

I'll pipe the jigs, you dance, and we'll have Andrew carry the cup around the crowd!

Three or four days and we can pay off our grafts!

Cheers, Piper
