Gareth,
I must have the reg wrong! It was definitely a mark 1. It was in good condition when I sold it 18 years ago (for £350). Goodness only knows what it looks like now??? I will have to dig out a photo.

Fords are made for the mass market apparently. But they do it so well. Shame they are struggling back in America as are GM.

Ford are struggling in Europe too which is why they are looking at selling Jaguar and Aston Martin.

Think if you post a picture of your old Escort John will have to create a motoring section :D

Yeah,
I'll have to a) find it
b) capture it digitally
c) then post it

But I love a challenge!

The new 9-5 is rather attractive! I think its an improvement on the 9000 although the 9-3 is defintely worse than the 900, which is why I am loathe to replace my 900 with its modern replacement!

OK. Not an Aston Martin but I am going to attempt to post a picture of my old ford escort. I did get the reg wrong. Please tell me this is a Mk1 or I have been deluded for 19 years!

Matthew,

Register with Photobucket and upload your picture. You can then cut and paste the IMG URL (the bottom box contents of the uploaded picture) into your message and hey presto, your picture should appear.

Or try this link from Piper [url=http://www.teamsouthbound.com/pictureprocessor/
]Picture Processing[/url]; this is probably better as it is designed to auto convert the picture to an appropriate size for forums such as this.

Photobucket relies on the user getting the picture size/resolution correct before uploading.

Or use the e-mail adress I have pm'd you and I will do it for you :D

Now lets guess at what model it could be.

It is a 1974 model as by 1975 on an N it was the Mk 2.

Round lights and full width bumper means it is either the basic model or the L varient.

The XL had rectangular lights, the sport had round lights but quarter length bumpers, 1300GT and 1300E had rectangular lights and quarter bumpers, the latter having front fog lamps hanging below the bumper.

Engine size of the car pictured is either an 1100 HC or 1300 HC.

A picture of the wheels if they are original or the interior including dash and I would be able to say further what model and a view of the exhaust system would destinguish between a 1300 and an 1100.

If you had the vin plate and chassis plate details I can also decode those too and say exactly how the car left the production line :D

Looks a nice motor, I will have to plug the reg into the DVLA web site and see if it still survives.

Thanks. It was an 1100. But a previous owner had converted it to a 1300. 1300ccs of mayhem!
Well maybe not...
