270 Mph Car-What is the point?

Postby Michael P » Thu 09 Nov 2006 3:37 pm

This is probably a question for Gareth.

Bristol have just manufactured what is claimed to be the fastest car for road use and has a top speed of 270 mph. 0 to 60 in just over 3 seconds.

Why is such a car manufactured, who drives them and where?

Apart from track events/track days there would appear to be little opportunity to drive the vehicle at speed. Surely one would have to accelerate to 60 mph just to get out of first gear.

Over to motor enthusiasts and Gareth.

German Autobhans is where they are driven as well as what you quite rightly say track days which is exactly why some people buy these cars.

As to why they are developed? The same reason people climb Everest, because we can :D

Gareth, what would you do with a 270 mph Bristol if you had one?

Not for the speed, I love the looks of this car and the racing heritage that goes with it. I think it is a mechanical work of art :?

Wow Gareth that is a sexy beast.

The problem is what happens after I drive it into my single garage. How do I get out?

Sweet, knowing you I think you would "go that fast".

Hi anonymous person.

Were you actually driving when you "went" 225 mph in your dad's car?

What car was this? I doubt mine would do more than 100 mph.
