hi all..can anyone recommend any hayfever eye drops that can be used whilst wearing rgp's?my eyes seem to itch like mad lately even though im taking tablets...its hard resisting the urge to rub my eyes...

The problem is that most eye drops advise agains use when wearing contact lenses.

Why not ask your optometrist or doc for advice? These things do change, even the ingredients. I used to use one that definately said "no not use when wearing contact lenses", but was encouraged by my optometrist's assurnace that they'd be okay with my lenses.

Ive used Opticrom or Boots own with my RGP's for years. Dont use them with soft lenses if you piggy back tho, it makes them cloudy. I leave the lens out for 20 mins after putting the drops in. works a treat for me. This was recommended by my lens man at Moorfields.

thanks guys..ive used eye drops in the past for other reasons..i think like was said its only soft lens's which are affected..

I use Sytsane for the symptoms of dry eye and they have helpwed my eyes with respect to hayfever too.

Still remove the lenses to put the drops in and then put the lens straight back in.

Only need to use the drops first thing in the morning and again at night when I take the lenses out now. Rest of the day is fine.

Whole of the weekend before last at a car show surrounded by oil seed rape that really agrevates my hayfever and no problems, just spen the past two days at another car show and no illeffects from hayfever.

I have had terrible itching for the last week or so and it has only just dawned on me that I may have hayfever.
I don't have any other symptons apart from itchy eyes (well more sore than itchy). It feels similar to soreness caused by protein build up.
I do occasionally sneeze but then I permanently have sniffles.
Is this likely to be hayfever or rather some other form of allergy?
I certainly suffered on the golf course yesterday and my eyes were a bit runny with worse than normal vision.

for me personally, I find that Beconase Nasal spray reduces all the hayfever symptoms and then just keeping my eyes moist by regularly removing my lenses, wetting them and then putting them back helps greatly.

The only symtoms of hayfever I have are slightly more itching of the eyes than normal.

I use RAPITIL eye drops available on prescription. Thay have worked a treat, better than anything i have ever tried. I put them in once in the morning before putting lenses in and then once just before bed when lenses are out. Speak to your GP and see if he can recommend them.

Goodness I've always put the itchy eyes solely down to KC rather than hayfever. Well, as I sell bee pollen vitamins i guess i had better try them out and see if they work!
