If I remember correctly 20/20 vision is when you can see at 20 feet, what someone with normal vision can see at 20 feet. This is the same as 6/6 but instead means 6 metres rather than the American 20 feet.
6/12 means: what you can see at 6 metres someone with normal vision can see the same thing at 12 metres.
The numbers change e.g. 6/18 but you can use the same principle. To amswer your question 20/20 or 6/6 vision is better than 6/12

20/20 and 6/6 mean the same thing.
In the United States they measure sight against "normal" by comparing what you can see at distances measured in feet. Therefore somebody with 20/20 vision sees at 20 feet what a normally sighted person sees at 20 feet.
In the United Kingdom the same measurement is expressed in Meters. Thus 6/6 means you can see at 6 m what a normally sighted person sees at 6m. 6/9 means you can see at 6m what the normally sighted can see at 9m, 6/12 you see at 6 what the normally sighted see at 12 and so on up to 6/60. If your sight is less than 6/60 you are struggling!
I know the two conventions are confusing, but think yourself lucky you're not deaf: the various conventions for sign language make the rathr slight difficulties in understanding sight measurement a daudle.

Just to add, the lines normally run as such from top to bottom:-

These can be different though with some charts so you will need to check rather than just counting lines!
