The problem with silliness is that it is hard to follow. That is also its charm. :D

SO sorry to hear you got mugged.
Please, plase do take care of yourself! - don't underrate concussion. I can be nastier than you think.
I hope this woman with the pink phone is genuine. Please do tell the police, take someone with you and let other people know when and where you are going, just in case.

Hhmm hadn't really thought about contacting the police to be honest, i had a hard time reporting it in the first place :( I am taking a friend with me though and as it's at a fast food restaurant i do feel slightly better than meeting anywhere else.

Am just hoping she really is genuine because it has crossed my mind as to is it worth putting me through this when it could all be a trick? Is my mobile really worth that much compared to my safety when before she called i was sitting here looking for another mobile and had resigned myself to never seeing it again? And i guess the real answer here is no :( It was very late when she contacted me but i'm kinda going along with the theory that she works nights as she has told me to pick it up at 6pm when her shift starts, so being a shift worker myself i can understand that.

It does make me wonder though if i hadn't have called over a hundred times to my phone what exactly she would have done with it? Unless she found it and went straight to work she didn't mention going to the police station or handing it in anywhere so i'm not really sure. Maybe she tried it found the credit blocked and decided to be honest and phone the number who had been calling all day. :( Who knows, i will find out tomorrow evening i guess.

On concussion yes i know i was playing it very light hearted and i refused going to 'A & E' to get it checked out but i did have someone stay with me overnight just in case and that is all they would have done would be to observe me. I didn't have any sickness so was playing on it not being so bad. I did and still do have a major headache though but i'm sure that it will pass really soon and if it doesn't i will drop in to see my GP. Thanks everyone for your concern.

The more I think about it, the more genuine this woman sounds. She picked up a phone, thought it to be lost and phoned the owner.

The only possible way that she has an ulterior motive would be if she was working with the yobs or after a finders fee (which you may feel she deserves).
After all, what could she possibly gain from asking to meet you in such a public place?

My advice would be not to worry about that... but if your head is still hurting, I would still consider getting it checked out. I know that you know "the system" only too well, but they do say that nurses make the worst patients , don't they?

Anyway, hope you feel a lot better really soon.

John

How did it go? did you get your phone back?

If you did, why not reward yourself with a new ringtone. I heard one the other day that sounded exactly like a telephone ringing!

Not a crazy frog, not a 39 piece orchestra, not a boy-band and not a speeding train: it sounded exactly like a telephone. I wanted to ask its owner where the ringtone could be found, but we had not been introduced!

Andrew

Seriously, Sweet, you have been in our thoughts over the last days. I hope your phone came home!

So who has the most annoying ringtone.

My phone is quite old so none of the polyphonic stuff.

Who remembers the Banana Splits from weekend (probably Sunday morning) TV?

The Tra la la song (aka Banana Splits theme) by the well known punk band The Dickies is what my ring tone is :D

Well, Gareth, I have never walked a mile in your shoes, so I'll pass no comment on the Banana Splits song ringtone.

But if you want somewone to support your nomination for this as the most annoying ringtone, you can depend on me!

:(

Hey Sweet, I am really really sorry to hear about your ordeal, that's a horrid thing to have to go through.

I'm glad you were not more seriously hurt but like others suggest be careful with that concussion of yours.

It's bad enough that this sort of thing can happen but absolutely appalling that it can take place in busy places.

Take good care of your self and ensure you're pampered for a while.

Thanks for all of your thoughts!

Yes my phone has come home!!!!   I took a friend with me to see this girl and she was the most honest and decent person i've met that i didn't know! I was so overwhelmed that she would want to give it back to me, i think that is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. (well someone i don't know anyway, yes it is a sad life i lead!)

I gave her a large box of luxury chocolate biscuits which she didn't want to take at first but when i told her i'd bought them just to say thanks as i never expected to see my phone again she agreed. Hehe, i have never seen anyone so dam excited by a box of biscuits before!!! :P

So everything is now fine in the sweet household  I've unbarred my credit so can now contact all you lovely people again! The good news is that amongst my eight answer messages there was one about the flat i want to see, so am so happy that i didn't miss that!

I also learnt a few things from this bad experience!

1) That you should ALWAYS go out with a bodyguard when walking alone! Cute handsome man a must! Baton or rifle an added fashion statement but not essential!!

2) That i should listen to myself and WRITE down all the numbers off my phone! I have been meaning to do this for months now as when i lost it it wasn't so much the phone i was worried about but the little sim card in the back which held seven years of names and numbers! The thought of having to retrieve all of those when some don't even live in the UK was a major disaster!

So ... thanks again for all your support, and yes my head is getting better now. Hehe the first thing this girl said to me though when we met was gee, that's a large bump to your head! LOL! Enough said!!

Sweet X x X :P
