Welcome Victoria,
I'm glad that you found the forum. It is also good to know that you live quite near Glasgow. It means that you might be able to come to the Scottish KC group meetings. I expect our next meeting to be in November. One of the consultants fromGatnavel hospital has agreed to come. I've still the date to arrange.
Are you on the National mailing list, so that you can receive newsletters etc?
We also have an Scottish e-mail list so that people in Scotland can keep in touch.E-mail addresses are kept confidential.I forward anything that people want to share with others, plus dates when Scottish group meetings happen.(Please send me you e-mail details)
I hope to hear from you soon. Elizabeth

Nothing stupid about it! We all started our feeling a bit isolated. Anyway, we are all glad you found your way to the forum.

Where in Scotland, and which hospital? I see in another string that you describe their apprach to telling you that you had KC as "mince". I guess we all know how that must feel.

Yours aye

Andrew

hey andrew,i go to stirling royal,it's not got the biggest or best eye clinic but it sems ok to me.the optom i usually see is fantastic, when i was going through a kinda c@*p stage with my left eye he literally had me seen within an hour of me phoning him!i kinda had the advantage of working in an optoms so i'd get someone to have a quick look and assess the situation.one of our optoms gets so freaked out ant time i asked her to have a look cause as you can imagine,a run of the mill optoms practice doesn't really come accross eyes like mine everyday!!!a teeny little scratch to us is like a stab wound to them!!!i shouldn't laugh but i do.

My first degree was from Stirling University, but I guess the Royal has grown sine the 1970's.

Does the hospital not have an in-house Contact lens clinic? When I lived in Aberdeen there was no hospital clinic so they referred me to a high street optom who specialized in Keratoconus eyes.

Anyhow, i is really good to meet another Scot with KC. The community goes on growing!

Yours aye

Andrew

I can't remember his name, it was a long time ago. When I moved to Glasgow he arranged for me to see the Contact Lens Department at the former eye infirmary (whose work has now been incorporated in the service offered by Gartnavel General Hospital).

I love Stirling! It is one of my five or six favourite places in the world. (the others include Stockholm, Glasgow, and Chicago as well as some others)
