Welcome!!

Postby Sweet » Fri 10 Aug 2007 9:49 pm

Hi there friends!

Welcome to the new Welsh forum, for KC members in Wales.

Here we can let people know of KC events & presentations and social get-togethers in Wales.

I am originally from South Wales, but have been living in London for the last three years. I regularly go home to visit family and friends and would be more than happy to meet up with members while I am there.

I have recently given my old optometrist in Cardiff (Mr. Ellis) some details about this group, and am hoping to get in touch with more Welsh friends soon! :D

Talk soon!

Love Sweet

Morag,

Hello there! I am sorry that I haven't replied before now, have only just had my broadband reconnected after my last flatmates left and cancelled the internet. I am going to be online a lot more now!

I am hoping that this group will take off when more welsh people know about us. I have given my old optometrist in South Wales some leaflets and information which I hope he will give to his KC patients.

I am sure that it wasn't you in getting something going, it just takes some time for people to know about us. Does your optom / consultant have details about this KC group? Hope to talk to you soon!

Hi there, welcome to the site! It is nice to meet some more welsh friends!

I piggyback with a soft monthly lens and a RGP. It is fantastic, I now get 15 hours a day wear when I struggled to make a few before!

Hoping that you can find new lenses soon, love Sweet X x X

Yeah me too!

The piggy back method is good but come with some issues too, i find that the hard lens slips quite a lot, it slip into a poistion so its half over my pupil and half off so is VERY distracting, especially when i'm driving!

Its a shame cos when it works it works well

Oh that is a real shame, it could be how your cone is shaped. I find that my lens moves slightly but sticks to the soft lens really well. I have managed a few times to occidentally dislodge a lens and find out that I have taken out the soft lens and the RGP is still in my eye! Weird!!

Oh gid yeah! i had that a couple of times, the hard lens managed to get under the soft lens but what is strage is that the hard lens didn't irritate my eye like it did when i wasn't using soft lenses?? so like you i only noticed when i was taking them out.

So its looking rather promising now, the dr gave me a new hard lens for my right eye which has also increased my vision loads and it hasn't slipped out of position once (touch wood) so fingers crossed i should be good now :)

Do you mind me asking sweet, how long have you had this condition, or more so how long have you known about it?

Its only been a year for me you see as i visited countless opticians who all told me my eye sight was fine and never picked up on the condition, in the end i asked to be refered to a specialist who picked up on it straight away!

Hey there!

I am now 31 and noticed my vision problems from around 14. I went to a local optician in Wales who said that I had a rare eye condition and that there was nothing I could do about it. I was told that in time I would go blind! :( After that I just left it as I have always had excellent vision in my right eye. When I got to around 16 though I was worried about doing my 'A' levels and starting uni to do nursing so went to another optician who told me to go to my GP and get a referral to see a consultant. My consultant diagnosed me with KC and sent me to see an optometrist who specialises in lenses so it was all ok after that! He was really helpful and gave me loads of advice.
