I've received two response to my above statement Matt. An expression of interest from Space Cadet and another PM just over a week ago from a Manchester student to which I promptly replied and provided my home telephone number but no response to date.

At the last Manchester KC meeting Mike arranged I recollect there were approaching 20 there.

Maybe KCers in the north west do not want or need a KC support and self help group?

Steve
I am in touch with someone who is interested in trying to revive the Manchester group. It would be good to get something going again, but with two attempts that fizzled out, we need to make sure we get it right this time. It's a big committment taking on the running of a local group, and most people lead busy lives AND sometimes have to contend with times when they have problems with their own KC. So not something to be undertaken lightly. When there's anything definite to report, I'll certainly post something here.

Hi Anne,

Thanx for the clarification.

I dont really see it being a big commitment especially if there is the will and support to have a KC self help group. There is nothing in the north west. Having quarterly or monthly/bi monthly meetings is not a big thing. Biggest challenge imo is finding a suitable venue.

I dont know why the first attemt with a Manchester group failed but having attended all the Manchester meetings on the second occasion I have an informed opinion. I think that you witnessed that problem when you kindly made the trip to support Mike at the first meeting, but suspect that due to the fear of speaking the truth your'll remain silent.

I dont know if you are speaking for Mike and that he has indeed resigned.

"we need to make sure that we get it right this time"

The key question then is why did it go wrong on the last two attempts?
I certainly think that Mike did an excellent job.

ATB
Steve

I would try to attend if there were meetings in my local area. Travel is not easy although with enough notice should be ok.

Sorry for reviving a pretty old topic - just thought I'd mention that I live in the NW and would be interested in attending any local meetings if they are still taking place.

There haven't been any posts here for a good few years, but I think it'd be great for people suffering from KC in the North West to be able to meet up and discuss/share experiences.

Totally agree with you Lewis. I'm following this thread with interest. Good luck

I would be interested in being part of a Manchester group. I've only just joined the forum having recently been diagnosed with KC.

Hello and welcome to the forum. If you'd like our information booklet about KC and a conference DVD, just e-mail your postal address to
anne@keratoconus-group.org.uk and I'll send them to you.
