Will I need a graft?

When we are first diagnosed, the information comes at once and the words 'Corneal graft' scare the life out of us.

In all cases of Keratoconus, between 5 - 10% will require a graft in one eye, even fewer require a graft in both eyes.

The worst eye will always be done first and the second done usually when stability and good corrected vision is attained in the first eye to receive a graft.

Succes rates are quoted as greater than 90%, this means no rejection and a clear healthy corneal graft. Visual aquity is not quoted with or without correction.
