KC Group Golden Oldies List

Postby Jeremy_123 » Thu 13 Mar 2008 5:01 pm

Hello Guys and Girls,

Right I don't know how many of you listen to Radio 2 in the afternoons so incase you don't, let me explain quick. Steve Wright when he gets back to being in the chair, he's off for the next week for some reason (I don't know so don't ask me) anyhow a section of his show in the afternoon is determined by the listeners and their lists of Golden Oldies. I managed to get my list played out last year ( :D woohoo :D ) and a couple of the songs seem to have become regulars. Anyhow I was looking through my songs and thinking I'd like to put a new oldies list together but I can't decide on the content so I thought I'll open it up to everyone on here. There is no guarantee that the list will get played but at least we had a go, bear in mind it can take 2 weeks for the songs to get on the air so we might have a little wait.

You need about 20-30 songs for an oldies list so if we say one each and then once it gets to about 30-35 posts, take the songs we've got and send em off once Steve Wright is back on the air.

My choice is "Rock'N Me" by the Steve Miller Band.

Lets see how this goes anyhow

Nope, that'll do nicely thanks Andrew, now all we need is another.....28 or so people to give us their thoughts. Should have labelled this topic as "Post here if you want free chocolate" or something to that effect

Both before my time but both brilliant songs

Keep 'em coming guys and want to say girls but so far its only been the gents contributing to this thread, there must be a few ladies out there willing to offer a suggestion or two to this list.

Anyhow I'm going to stick another few of mine up for this:

Turn up the Radio - Autograph

All day and all of the night - The Kinks

It doesn't matter what they're about or when they're from, well just pre 1995ish shall we say.

Anyhow, I'm very tempted to offer free cake to people who put a song forward, only trouble is, it seems a bit much to send bakewell slices all over the country don't y'think.

Still, Karl, Andrew, thankyou for your suggestions.

Now how much d'ya reckon Fedex would quote for next day delivery of a jam sponge???????

good choices, donna. As you didn't specify anything in particular by Metallica, could I suggest

The Ecstasy of Gold

or anything from their SM (symphony and metallica) album?
