Well now, I didn't think it possible but after a bit of prodding and offers of cake and other sweet treats we've got 39 tracks which is more than enough according to the Golden Oldies page on the Steve Wright page regarding this, apparently its 20-30 but I doubt they'll mind too much.

I'll give it perhaps one more week for people to suggest any changes or add ons to their suggestions, otherwise its a pretty good list all tolled and I think I've discovered the secret to sparking interest from the KC group, Cake in all its wonderful varieties

By the way if you want a shout out if they play the list I'll need your names obviously. We'll worry about that though when it comes time to send off our suggestions.

Stay well everyone and keep your ears peeled for Radio 2 in the next few weeks about 14:50 - 15:20 PM.

Speak to you all again soon.

Jez,

That's a very good and varied list, it covers all age groups and all the various tastes in music.
I reckon there's a good chance some will get played.

Thankyou for coming up with the idea.

I would be grateful for a nudge when it's due to be on.

Cheers

Lesley.
Live long and Prosper.

This is really exciting; will you warn us when our list is likely to be on the wireless?

Hey Lesley, Andrew,

I'll do my best to give you notice, unfortunately the last time I had my list played out I didn't receive an email or anything to say that it was going to be played out. It was in fact a relative who heard my name being read out whilst he was driving ( I was in a lecture on British Naval Strategy at the time  ), had a listen on the listen again thingy later on that day and there it was. I'll ask them in the request thing if they can send me an email if they're going to play our list and when or even just what week.

That said though it took about 2-3 weeks before my list got played last time, so we might have a bit of a wait but it'll be worth it, don't worry though, I'll do my best to keep you posted.

Andrew, I'd give it till 6pm say. When I started this my original post was made at 5pm, I don't know that we'll get any more suggestions but seeing as how its been about 2 months in the making a few more hours won't hurt.

The KC Group Golden Oldies List

1) Rock'N Me - Steve Miller Band
2) Songs for Jeffrey - Jethro Tull
3) Nights In White Satin - Moody Blues
4) A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procul Harem

7) On the run - Pink Floyd
8) Turn up the Radio - Autograph (This should be a number 8 )
9) All day and all of the night - The Kinks
10) Biko - Peter Gabriel
11) Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen
12) Roxanne - Sting
13) Welcome to the Jungle - Guns n Roses
14) Sweet Child of Mine - Guns n Roses
15) The Ecstasy of Gold - Metallica
16) Sounds of silence - Simon and Garfunkel
17) Somebody to love - Queen
18) Big boned gal - k.d.lang.
19) Handbags and Gladrags - Rod Stewart's version
20) Reason to Believe - Rod Stweart
21) Life on Mars - David Bowie
22) Jean Genie - David Bowie
23) Changes - David Bowie
24) Money - Pink Floyd
25) Xanadu - Electric Light Orchestra
26) Rock and Roll ain't noise pollution - AC/DC
27) Hold back the river - Wet Wet Wet
28) Fool to cry - The Rolling Stones
29) Don't think twice, its all right - Bob Dylan
30) There's A Kind Of Hush - The Carpenters
31) On your shore - Enya
32) Everything under the sun - The Walker Brothers
33) When Will The Good Apples Fall - The Seekers

36) Forever in Blue Jeans - Neil Diamond
37) Voodoo chile (slight return) - Jimi Hendrix
38) Hold on - JJ Cale
39) Shine - Django Reinhardt
40) House of the Rising Sun - Animals
41) Good Bye Ruby Tuesday - Rolling Stones

As above any further suggestions must be in by 6pm or before Andrew locks the thread after this time, simple as really.

Also I trust I have everybody's name who wants a shout out, by this I mean I think we only have one contributor who didn't have their first name as part of their user name. If you want your surname and not just your first name probably best to PM it to me. Otherwise thankyou for your contributions and now I can get on and send these off to Radio 2.

Anyhow, thanks for your help everyone and I'll do my best to keep you posted as per when it'll get aired, no guarantees mind you but I'll do what I can.

(Thomas a Kempis)

And that, as they say, is that.

We look forward to hearing our list played on the wireless! :D

String closed.
