For me at least the last concours show has been and gone. For te past four years I have been taking part in the RS Owners Club concours event.
Sunday 2nd September was the last event in their concours calander, left home at 6am to drive up in the rain after having spnt all Saturday and Saturday night cleaning the inside of the car and underbonet.
Arrived at Croft Circuit, just outside Darlington Co Durham to get the outside polished up before the heavens opened and we all nearly drowned. Track action continued while I took shelter.
Despite this one my class for the show and got the overall class win for the season.
Taking a quick break between polishing to talk to a fellow Mk1 enthusiast.
Judging complete and would you believe it, the place has started to dry out!
Receiving my award from one of the show organisers. For those who don't know me, I'm the one in the dark glasses!
I know I look rough, but been up all night, driven 3 hours in the rain to still work on the car for about 5 hours and get soaked to the skin too

Well done though

The hair is actually Helmet Hair as Shrek would say
Met up with an old friend who was on track so he gave me a run in his car for old times sake.
Wish I could get to competing again on track

Gareth
I am sorry that this season has been such a wash out (weatherwise). How would you rate the season from the point of view of competition?
By the way, well done on this trophy,
Andrew

Re: 2007 Concours season over.
Andrew,
The last show was the only wash out for me, Cumbria would ahve been but for the fact I had to work that weekend so missed the show and the North Yorkshire show clashed with the KC confrence so missed that one too. One local show to me was cancelled and the other clashed with a show that I am on the committee of so I have missed my share but not due to weather.
Competition was poor, the Old Skool Escort RS's pre-1980 and the Capri RS's 1973 - 1974 are all in one class to encourage competition, but as all these cars are getting rarea they rarely come out to shows. Competition has been there, but thin on the ground so I feel I won more on enthusiasm/dedication rather than sheer quality of my car.
These cars were built to be driven and that is what I do, my car is driven to every show more often than not at the speed limit en route and if oppertunity allows I do open the old girl up a wee bit to blow the cobwebs out.
I like to compete, but for me to enjoy it I need more competition, so going to do some rallys next year; The Lakes Tour - Lake District, Donor Ralley - round Warwickshire to promote donor cards and proceeds go to charity and the Gt Rally - unsure where this goes.
These are not time trials so I can take part and there is no competition but a good day out round places I would not normally go.
