People are lovely, aren't they?

Just talking a break from Comic Relief, where I'm working at the main Sainsbury's call centre taking callers wanting to donate money.

Amazingly, most of the callers want to donate £50 or more - people are certainly pledging £1000 on occasions!

It is funny though; when the comedy is on, the phones all go quiet... as soon as the african reports are shown the phones go into meltdown!

Trying to recover my wrist now for the final push to midnight - I've not written so much in one go since my degree exams 20 years ago!

John

It is really good that you were involved in all this. We were visiting our son last night and caught some of the show on his television. He seems to have digital that comes through an analogue aerial (does that make sense?)

Well done

Andrew

Andrew,

It sounds as if your son has Freeview (free digital TV though a normal UHF aerial). Technically, the aerial is UHF rather than analogue, even though it was never designed to receive a digital signal, most of them do rather well at it.

Oh, and if he lives in the Border TV region, his analogue TV will be switched off next year.

For some reason I missed seeing your original post earlier - but I would just like to say how much I admire people who give up their time to help in these kind of events. Well done.
Interestingly enough I tended to miss some of the comedy stuff - but was glued to the TV when they showed the african and other reports! Until I fell asleep on the sofa that is!
Hope you spoke to some lovely people - must confess to making my donation silently on line!
